Ren D. Santiago

A typical night at Starr Street for Ani, John, and Ten is sprinkled with cocaine, liquor, music, longing, and laughter until nothing is funny and the purpose is lost.

Ren Santiago is a New York City-based playwright, born in the Bronx and raised in Harlem. At sixteen, she was accepted into MCC Theater's Youth Company and a year later found Lucy Thurber's Playwriting Lab where she wrote her first two plays, He's Enlightened (2009) and Come To Starr Street (2010). After graduating from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art & the Performing Arts, she was accepted into Acting School's Conservatory and Lucy founded the Middle Voice Theater Company, the Apprentice Company of Rattlestick Playwright's Theater, of which Ren is a founding member. Now, Ren acts as Co-Artistic Coordinator, dramaturg, playwright, actor, and anything the company needs and finds her capable of doing.
